The chase for the 2018 Black College National Championship is boiling hot with teams either improving their chances, making things hard for themselves or dropping out of the chase completely with each passing week!

D1 / FCS
In the MEAC, Bethune Cookman defeated North Carolina Central in a double overtime thriller, 28 – 25, on senior night in Daytona Beach and before a national TV audience! For the third time in four years, the Wildcats downed the Eagles on the final play of he game. With the win, BCU improves to 6 – 5 on the season while the loss drops NCCU to 4 – 5 this year.
North Carolina A&T defeated Savannah State, 28 – 12, and improves to 8 – 2 on the season and with the victory, keeps their hopes of capturing the MEAC Championship & returning to the Celebration Bowl alive. FAMU falls to South Carolina State, 44 – 21, in a game that won’t count against them in he MEAC standings. While the loss drops the Rattlers to 6 – 4 on the season, they are still in the driver’s seat in the MEAC Championship hunt.
In the SWAC, Alcorn State had a bye week and coupled with Jackson State’s 20 – 2 victory over Alabama State, the SWAC East will come down to next week’s winner of he divisional matchup between Alcorn State & Jackson State. In the SWAC West, the Bayou Classic will once again determine who wins the division and advances to the SWAC Championship game. Southern comes in with a 6 – 3 record while Grambling State comes in at 6 – 4
D2 / NAIA
In the SIAC Championship Game, the Miles Golden Bears dismantled the Albany State Golden Rams, 50 – 23, en route to capturing the 2018 SIAC Football Championship! With the victory, the Golden Bears finish he season on a huge high note after starting with a 0 – 5 record. The Golden Rams finish the season on a disappointing note but did end with a 7 – 4 record and the SIAC East division title!
The Bowie State Bulldogs defeated the Fayetteville State Broncos, 30 – 10, and with the victory captured the 2018 CIAA Championship, the first ever for the Bulldogs! In addition to the CIAA crown, Bowie State received a 4 seed and will host a NCAA D2 Playoff game against West Alabama. The Bulldogs will be the only HBCU in the playoffs as Virginia Union was on the outside looking in after finishing 8 – 2 this season.
The Langston Lions defeated the Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggies, 33 – 9, to claim the Sooner Athletic Conference title in the inaugural Sooner Athletic Conference Championship Game. Langston finished the regular season 9 – 1, secured back to back championships and another NAIA football playoff appearance taking on Kansas Wesleyan next week!
