The chase for the 2018 Black College National Championship continued with yet another exciting week of Black College Football in the CIAA, MEAC, SIAC and SWAC!
The Langston Lions knocked off Texas College, 71 – 48, over the weekend. With the win, Langston improves to 7 – 0 in conference and 7 – 1 overall on the season with their only loss coming at the hands of SWAC powerhouse Southern Jaguars. The Lions have a bye this week and return to action on 11/10 against Panhandle State in the “Battle for the Bell”.
In the CIAA, Fayetteville State celebrated homecoming with a win, 41 – 7, over Livingstone and with it secures the 2018 CIAA Southern division title and a trip to the CIAA Championship Game! The Broncos improved to 6 – 1 overall and 5 – 0 in conference and were helped by Shaw, who defeated Winston-Salem State, 26 – 21. Bowie State stays on pace to capture the CIAA North title with a 35 – 14 victory over Lincoln (Pa.). The win improves the Bulldogs record to 7 – 2 overall and 4 – 1 in the conference.
In the SIAC, Albany State secured the SIAC East division title with a 21 – 0 win over division foe Benedict Tigers. With the win, the Golden Rams improve to 6 – 3 this season. Tuskegee fell to Central State, 40 – 36, setting up a “winner takes all” match-up against division rival Miles Bears this coming weekend. The winner clinches the SIAC East division title and a berth in the 2018 SIAC Championship Game!

FAMU improves to 6 – 2 on the season with a 38 – 3 dismantling of Morgan State. The win also keeps FAMU undefeated in MEAC play and on pace to win the MEAC Championship!
Alcorn State wins its fourth straight road game and ruined yet another homecoming with its 27 – 13 victory over the Prairie View Panthers. The win puts the Braves squarely in first place in the SWAC East and on pace to appear in the SWAC Championship game for the fifth straight year in a row! The Southern Jaguars dismantled Jackson State from start to finish en route to a 41 – 7 victory! Grambling State defeated the UAPB Golden Lions, 45 – 38, in a controversial overtime victory. The win keeps the Tigers hopes of a SWAC West title still alive.
