Another exciting week of Black College Football draws to a close and conference championship and D 2 playoff scenarios are starting to become somewhat clear.
The SIAC Championship is set as Albany State (7-3) will face off against Miles (4-6). ASU is currently ranked #7 in super regional 2 and would more than likely secure a spot in the NCAA D2 football playoffs with a win in the SIAC Championship Game. If Miles wins, the SIAC would likely miss the playoffs for the second year in a row!
In the CIAA, the Bowie State Bulldogs and Fayetteville State Broncos have clinched their respective divisions and advanced to the Championship game. The Bulldogs come in with an 8-2 overall record and 5-1 in conference play. It’s also their third trip to the championship game in the past four seasons. The Broncos head into the game with a 6-2 overall and 5-1 conference record and are back in the SIAC Championship game after falling to Virginia State 42-19 last season.

In the MEAC, Howard added some intrigue to the championship chase as the Bison defeated FAMU, 31-23, and handed the Rattlers their first conference loss of the season. FAMU has one more conference game, 11/17 against in-state rival Bethune Cookman. Howard vs Norfolk State, North Carolina A&T vs Savannah State & Bethune Cookman vs North Carolina Central are the games of note for teams still in the hunt for the MEAC Championship and a berth in the Celebration Bowl.
In the SWAC, both Alcorn State and Southern remain at the top of their respective divisions. Southern faces off against UAPB this weekend, Alabama A&M hosts Grambling State & Alabama State hosts Jackson State in key SWAC match-ups. It appears that the SWAC divisional races won’t be settled until the final week of the season!
